Episode Show Notes

0:00 – Intro Music

0:26 – Affirmation:

“I will persist until I succeed. I was not delivered unto this world in defeat, nor does failure course in my veins. I am not a sheep waiting to be prodded by my shepherd. I am a lion and I refuse to talk, to walk, to sleep with the sheep. I will hear not those who weep and complain, for their disease is contagious. Let them join the sheep. The slaughterhouse of failure is not my destiny. I will persist until I succeed.”

This can lead to mental health issues, and so it’s important to support the patients emotionally and mentally as well as physically.
  • It’s important to deal with patients on a personal level, and not just pity them. They still need to live a normal life while balancing their treatment.

  • It’s okay to get things wrong, you learn as you grow.
  • It’s important to encourage people to take risks, and not be afraid of failure.
  • It’s okay to fail, and you shouldn’t let it defeat you.
  • Failure is not a stopping point, it’s a learning point.

24:36 – Mental Health

  • Recommended book: Let them see you sweat by Michael Levin.
  • Mental health can affect your physical health
  • Mental health can affect anyone at anytime. It’s a serious problem, and it’s something that needs to be addressed and taken seriously in our everyday lives in the same way that physical health is.
  • It’s common for people to become overwhelmed by worrying about things that could go wrong, not realizing all the things that could go well.
  • It’s okay to take mental health days and take time for yourself to relax and do things that you enjoy. We need to take time for ourselves.
  • With the way that technology is so readily available to us, we never really shut down and have time to ourselves.
  • Bell Let’s Talk Day is a step in the right direction, because mental health is something that we need to talk about and work through.
  • Your problems are real to you, and it’s important to take them seriously.
  • Pockets of Progress: focus on the small pockets in your life where you are succeeding and moving forward regardless of where you are in life.

  • Change is inevitable.
  • The only thing that is predictable is unpredictability.
  • Don’t resist change, let things happen. It will catch up to you eventually anyways.

48: 45 – Quotes

  • “I would have been the best at whatever I want to do in life. If I were to be a garbage man, I would be the best garbage man ever.”
  • “You can’t live in a blueprint. A blueprint is a plan, if the house never gets built, then the blueprint is useless.”
  • “Get busy living, or get busy dying”

54:37 – The US Federal Election, learning from others, and listening to all sides

  • Just because someone is on a different “side” or has a different view doesn’t mean that you can’t listen to them and learn from what they have to say.
  • “Why we want you to be rich” by Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki
  • Find the good in everyone
  • Everyone has values, and they have meaning and purpose for doing something.
  • Our surrounding can influence how someone can become. We are all affected by our external environment.
  • It can be important to remove any negative influences.
  • We must be aware of our issues, and you have to let people know what issues you are having with someone else.
  • Take care of yourself before you take care of others. When you are strong and in a better place, you can help others.

SHOW NOTES – Luanne Hunt (EP 11)

0:00 – Intro Music

0:26 – Affirmation:

“I will persist until I succeed. I was not delivered unto this world in defeat, nor does failure course in my veins. I am not a sheep waiting to be prodded by my shepherd. I am a lion and I refuse to talk, to walk, to sleep with the sheep. I will hear not those who weep and complain, for their disease is contagious. Let them join the sheep. The slaughterhouse of failure is not my destiny. I will persist until I succeed.”

  • Og Mandio, The Greatest Salesman in the World.

https://www.amazon.ca/Greatest-Salesman-World-Og-Mandino/dp/055327757X

1:01 – Intro to Luanne

  • Persistence is key.
  • Country singer
  • Hit singles include Christmas Without You, and Lightning in a Bottle
  • Pursue your dreams, and don’t let anything stop you. Age shouldn’t be a limitation.

2:02 – Pride

  • Pride is a great thing
  • In terms of music or art, there are a lot of people who will copy things or imitate other people, so everything begins to sound the same. But there is no pride in that.
  • You must have pride of ownership.
  • Pride means constantly striving for things that you would like to reach. Keep going and keep improving. Stay the course and don’t waiver.
  • Luanne is most proud of her persistence and the fact that she never given up and always kept going regardless of what other people say or do to deter you.
  • Don’t let other people’s insecurities about themselves stop you or make you feel discouraged.
  • Lack of success that most people have is a lack of persistence.
  • There are always opportunities to reach your goals.
  • Doing what you do because it is your purpose.

6:40 – Finding joy in what you do

  • It’s important to find something that you’re passionate about and that you can find joy in. Success becomes a bonus.
  • Many people don’t do what they enjoy because they are simply paying bills and trying to live life, and their dreams are put on hold, and they stop working on it. Later on, down the road, people my feel regretful because they gave up.
  • One’s beliefs about what is possible might dictate what people do. This keeps people in one place, and they don’t grow. You must believe in yourself and tell yourself that you can do it regardless of those beliefs.

8:40 – The start of Luanne’s career in singing.

  • Started singing country in the early 90s. Would have been in her 30s. Began singing for fun at county fairs and retirement homes.
  • Began to teach singing for parks and recs. Got a lot of experience and grew a lot as a singer through teaching.
  • “The best way to learn something is to teach it” – Stephen Covey
  • Luanne knew she wanted to sing as a kid, but parents and family members would ridicule her. She had to learn how to overcome that to achieve her singing career.
  • Seeing the support her students got from their parents helped her to overcome some of that abuse that she receives early on when she was a kid in regard to singing because it allowed her to heal. She could provide a platform for kids to explore their creativity and be supported in that.
  • The best way to heal is by giving back.
  • Singing was something that always brought Luanne joy, but she didn’t always feel as though she had the talent for it
  • When she was a teen, she went to a club and there was a band. She asked the band during the break if she could get up and sing with the band. She had a lack of experience, and the performance didn’t turn out too great for her, and people tried to pull her off that stage. This was an embarrassing moment for her, but when she looks back on it, she doesn’t feel as though that moment discouraged her at all or made her feel as though she should give up.  She took it in stride.
  • Realized if she was going to sing, she was going to have to do it well. That meant going to lessons and practicing and working very hard at it.
  • Worked a temp job that she hated. Didn’t feel as though she was doing anything useful and that the job was a waste of time for her. Decided she wasn’t going to spend anymore time doing a job that she found no value in. Encouraged her to sign up to be a singing instructor. Had a lot of success as an instructor.
  • You must decide, and then act.
  • People tend to put things off because they are afraid or nervous about what might happen if they do decide.

19:47 – Melancholy People

  • We know where we belong in life, and everyone knows what they want to be doing.
  • Success is doing what you want to do. Waking up everyday and feeling as though they are doing what they want to do is success.
  • If you are not attempting to pursue your dream, you are failing in life.
  • People become bitter because they don’t do what they want to in life, and they become jealous of those that do.
  • People don’t want to hear they aren’t living a good life. No matter how much you try to help them, they might begrudge you for it. This is a victim mentality.
  • When you come onto this planet you are a victim because you don’t get to choose the life that you are going to have. But once you are older and you have authority over your own life you can decide to change things and make things happen for yourself.
  • People need to understand their own responsibility in their life. Things are not always out of your control.

25:52 – Originality and being genuine.

  • There was a point where she knew that she wasn’t a great singer.
  • However, she always knew that she wanted to be a singer, and that was going to be her main goal.
  • The music business is a rough rode, and it can be hard to find your footing.
  • The internet is a double-edged sword.
  • There are newer artists today who try to recreate the works of other famous people, and they are just trying to make a copy of what they’ve heard. It’s not genuine, and there is no really heart or soul behind it. It’s important to develop something that is unique to you, and to your own personal message that you want to tell the world.
  • You recognize quality when you see it in writing and production of art.
  • Art comes from being genuine and unique to yourself and your life.
  • Music and art needs to be real.
  • It’s okay to learn from someone and take inspiration but copying someone is never going to make you successful.

38:49 – What does failure mean to you?

  • Doesn’t think of herself in terms of failure.
  • Failure could be just not quite hitting the mark on something that you are trying to do. Doesn’t mean that you won’t get there eventually, but you will get there eventually.
  • We may try something new at one point in time, and realize we aren’t as suited to that as we might have thought, and so we have to re evaluate what we’re doing at that time. This is all apart of growing.

39:52 – #share

  • In life to really be able to look back on your legacy, if you strive to be the very best you can be, when you look back you will be proud of yourself.
  • People thing that things should be handed to them, and that they don’t have to work for things, but it’s things don’t always come easily.
  • When you are given something that you didn’t work for, you won’t feel that same amount satisfaction and pride as you would if you had actually put the work in for it.
  • You need to have wealth consciousness, and the right mindset for success. You need to condition your mind, not just your external circumstances.

46:32 – What is the key to a long-lasting relationship?

  • Commitment to staying together no matter what, and making things work.
  • Each person in the relationship needs to work on themselves individually before they can make their relationship work.
  • Need to learn to forgive and forget
  • It’s important to evaluate the relationship and how you feel about one another, and then find a way to make it work.
  • If you stop being a victim and take responsibility and learn how to grow from mistakes you can find the way to make things work.
  • You have to learn your lessons in life.

51:42 – Final Thoughts

  • Quote for motivation: “Let your faith be bigger than your fear”
  • Have faith that you are going in the right direction and following your heart, and things will materialize for you.
  • Don’t let fear stop you.
  • Don’t give up because success could be right around the corner for you.

“I was not delivered unto this world in defeat, nor does failure course in my veins. I am not a sheep waiting to be prodded by my shepherd. I am a lion and I refuse to talk, to walk, to sleep with the sheep. I will hear not those who weep and complain, for their disease is contagious. Let them join the sheep. 1:00 – Intro to Reneau

  • Author, speaker and educator
  • Author of several books surrounding emotions and mental health
  • Most recent is Anger: Taming the beast
  • Favourite Quote: “in life pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional”

2:55 – What is anger. How do you deal with it?

  • Broad view of anger, you experience it everyday
  • Low level is irritation, high level is rage. Same emotion, it just depends on the level.
  • Anger is a normal human reaction.
  • Provides motivation and energy to settle conflicts and take care of yourself as long as it’s not being expressed inappropriately.
  • It’s important to minimize negative reactions, maximize positive reactions.
  • Anger is about threat. Response to being threatened. Anger or fear. If it’s unmanageable, it becomes fear. If it’s manageable one becomes angry to get rid of it.
  • We may see threats where there aren’t any.
  • Triggers from the past can cause anger. Things from your past can trigger threat.
  • When you’re sick, tired or stressed you don’t reason as well as when you’re calm. You don’t think as clearly, and you may become angry.
  • It’s easier to learn when to keep quiet and try to deal with it when you’re feeling better.
  • Emotions are just a message that there is a need. Negative emotions mean there was a loss, and positive emotions means something was fulfilled.
  • Emotions are just information.
  • Act on the emotion, don’t act it out. Respond, don’t react.
  • Recognize patterns, find resolve.

12:50 – Core Beliefs

  • Core beliefs that shape your interpretations of the world were developed by a little kid. For some people that never changes.
  • Never stop growing and maturing.
  • Really shape the actions about how we react to things.
  • What it means to be a man or a woman. What are relationships about? What is success? What is life after death? Shape the reactions we have to other people
  • We are distracted from our core beliefs by media and technology. It’s necessary to unplug sometimes and spend less time with electronics.
  • Beneficial to examine your core beliefs, and what they mean to you. Self-examine, and reflect.

15:20 – Anger: Taming the Beast – Human Behaviour and emotions

  • Can we control our anger?
  • What are some of the things that can cause anger?
  • What anger is appropriate? Is the level appropriate? Will it cause another person harm?
  • Recognize how we’re behaving towards something.
  • People will downplay their anger.
  • Anger can give people social power
  • Fear, and making people afraid of your anger can give you a certain level of control.
  • People will minimize the consequences of their behaviour. They may say “what’s the big deal?”
  • People will modify their behaviour around people of authority. People will consider the consequences.
  • As an adult, you can manage your emotions and control your behaviour. Keep in mind your actions, and your behaviour.
  • Challenge your should / must thinking.
  • When people feel vulnerable, they become defensive, and resort to something that makes them feel strong. Convert to anger for strength.
  • Fight or flight when faced with confrontation.
  • Learn to become okay with embarrassment and making mistakes.
  • If someone’s behaviour is irrational, it’s because their beliefs are irrational.
  • Ask yourself why you’re feeling threatened.
  • Many people will label certain emotions as “taboo” so they resort to anger to cover it up. Find a way to let go of this way of thinking

29:52 – Emotions and children.

  • Children model behaviour from the people in their lives.
  • Discover the child’s “theme” How can you encourage a child in that theme?
  • Build their confidence and communicate effectively with them about their strengths and weaknesses.
  • How can you give them structure to deal with these insecurities?
  • Build confidence.
  • Teachable vs unteachable moments.
  • Success comes with the quality of your relationship.
  • Encouragement and support is necessary.
  • Spend time with your kids and develop a relationship
  • Don’t be irrational.

Show Notes – ROBERT CROWN (EP. 10)

1:00 – Intro to Robert Crown

  • Author of “Suffering Ends When Awakening Begins”
  • Has suffered a traumatizing past, in which he was faced with his own near death.
  • Has had to learn how to put behind him the dysfunctional behaviours passed down to him by his family.
  • His message is “it does get better”
  • Helps in his community and service organizations through charity, and through working with youth and seniors.
  • Served on the board of directors in his local chamber of commerce.
  • Love of travel has taken him to Japan six times
  • Has a wife and four children
  • Owns a residential real-estate brokerage

2:40 – Pride

  • Den of Pride is about confidence building, and that it’s okay to be proud of who you are
  • Is pride a sin?
  • Is pride a good or a bad thing?
  • Depends on where your ego is with your pride. If you are boisterous or a braggart, then it could be a bad thing.
  • What does pride mean to you?
  • It means being proud of your accomplishments and the things you’ve achieved.
  • What are you most proud of?
  • Being able to turn his life around and a live a life that he wants

4:03 – Robert’s childhood story and learning to awaken.

  • Comes from a dysfunctional family
  • 1973, Robert was 11 years old
  • Robert’s mother drugged him and his sisters by putting pills in ice cream
  • She then attempted to kill Robert and his sisters by filling the house with carbon monoxide from the family car
  • Robert started slipping out of consciousness, and felt he was going to die.
  • A voice comes to him and tells him to go to the door and try to escape. Robert believes this was his higher self speaking to him.
  • Through sheer determination to survive, he escapes, and makes it outside to safety.
  • He screams for help, and his mother finds him, and she snaps out of it. Robert’s sisters are rushed to the hospital.
  • Everyone was okay, but his mother spent three months in a hospital.
  • Never received any counselling, and he and his sisters didn’t speak about it until he began writing his book.
  • Didn’t forgive his mother for a long time afterwards. They now have a good relationship.
  • Things that happen in your childhood can be attributed to things that happen to you later in life. The trauma that this event caused might explain some of the personal and behavioural struggles that he experienced throughout his life.
  • Robert has realized after reading The Bhagavad Gita that humanity can awaken to their true purpose, and if they don’t, they fail. Humanity must awaken to who they truly are. The people who fight through their hardships and learn from them and can keep going, they can awaken to their true purpose. We need to keep going, and deal with our hardships ourselves.
  • Suffering isn’t here to make us go through things, it’s to get us to awaken to who we truly are and awaken to our true selves and our divinity.

20:29 – Listening to the Universe’s message

  • suffering in life that we go through is an opportunity
  • Everything comes from one origin. Some call it God, some call it ‘source’
  • Source is omniscience all knowing. Full of profound, deep love.
  • Source is omnipotent.
  • Parts of the source are broken off, and these broken off pieces are our human minds and consciousness. We are pieces of the source, and our human body is a container.
  • When you are moved from the ultimate source, veils of illusion get placed over us. False beliefs are placed over humanity. It’s important to remove these veils of delusion so we can awaken to who we truly are. Once we awaken to who we truly are, we discover this omniscience, and divinity within us.
  • The point of the awakening is to get in touch with who we really are.
  • The way you think can have a huge impact on things. Instead of thinking about what can go wrong, consider what can go right.
  • “The moment that you begin to think properly, a power within you will emerge. This I know for sure.” – Michael Beckwith

33:20 – Changing your thinking

  • Masaru Emoto, Messages from Water:  Studied and researched our thoughts and how they effected water crystals. Under messages that had words such as ‘ugly’ or ‘hate’, ugly water crystals would appear. Under messages that had words such as ‘beautiful’ or ‘love’, beautiful water crystals would appear.
  • Your thoughts can manifest your reality.
  • 5 step processes: 1. Make a firm decision on what you want to do, don’t let anything stop you no matter what 2. Create a clear image in your mind of what you want 3. Create an affirmation in your mind of what you are trying to achieve, allow yourself to feel how you want to be 4.  Think from the end, believe that you already have what you want 5.  Stop negative chatter, you’re so used to thinking a specific way, that’s your default. So, you must raise your vibration and your frequency.
  • Live a life with intention.
  • The way we think are all paradigms from when we were little kids. We make connections that might not be there because your brain is wired a certain way from when you’re a kid.
  • Creating a new reality can make one feel very exposed and vulnerable, but you must remember that your brain is working against you. You feel comfortable in a way that’s familiar, so your brain will try to make you stay in one place. But you develop the most when you are feeling uncomfortable.
  • Embrace your new reality and move forward.

46:06 – Parting Thoughts

  • No matter what challenges you face in your life, even if you feel like you can’t handle it, you will never receive more than you can handle.
  • You are a strong, powerful being
  • You are a multi dimensional being living in a third dimensional world, and you are more powerful than you will ever know.
  • “Throughout human history, there has been many battles. But there has been only one war. That is the war of the oppressing consciousness trying to suppress the consciousness that wants to be free.”  – Max Buyers
  • Don’t just think something, believe it.

Experience Independence

This was sent to me in an email campaign today & I felt you might benefit from this article.  As the US Celebrate Independence Day this week, they consider their fight for Separation from the British Rule.

This article offers advice on some things that you would benefit from implementing a separation or independence.  Please Read below this article from David Newman of Do It Marketing.

Speaker’s Declaration of Independence

To celebrate Independence Day here in the US, here are 17 articles of the “Speaker’s Declaration of Independence.”

  1. You are independent of “being chosen” and will proactively reach out to highly targeted prospects with a value-first message to ask how you can help them.
  2. You are independent of “small potatoes” thinking and doing and you are free to think big – and act bigger (courtesy @JeffreyHayzlett)
  3. Your fees are independent of any prospect’s budget. What they “can afford” has zero to do with what you deserve to earn based on the value you deliver.
  4. You are independent of being stuck, stymied, and confused. You are free to DECIDE and DEFINE exactly what problems you solve and exactly what people you serve.
  5. You are independent of “waiting for someday” for your speaking-driven business to become what you always wanted it to be. Your time is now and your opportunities are limited only by your imagination.
  6. You are independent of “one size fits all” business models. Keynoters are no better (or richer) than trainers, seminar leaders, coaches, consultants, facilitators, online course creators, etc. The business model that fits is the business model that pays (and lasts.)
  7. You are independent of “shiny object syndrome” and you are free to focus relentlessly on MMA (Money-Making Activity) to connect with the right prospects who want you to solve the right problems at the right fee.
  8. You are independent of tactic-itis because you know that random tactics lead to random results. You are free to put the right strategies in place that lead to coordinated tactics, action steps, and results.
  9. You are independent of being treated like a commodity. You are free to boldly claim your topic, niche, target market, and specialization as an expert who speaks professionally.
  10. You are independent of impostor syndrome. You are free to embrace the entirety of your expertise, experience, past jobs, past careers, skills, insights, and hard-won wisdom and bring 100% of those assets to bear on delivering massive value to your hand-selected group of extremely lucky high-paying clients.
  11. You are independent of “local-yokel” status. You are free to drop your Chamber membership, stop taking local gigs for peanuts, and stop playing small in your own backyard. National experts market and sell nationally, and are in high demand regardless of geography.
  12. You are independent of sales reluctance. You are free to open relationship-building conversations with highly targeted prospects who are actively seeking solutions to the urgent, pervasive, expensive problems you’re already brilliant at solving.
  13. You are independent of the competition. You are free to zig where they zag and you are free to shift your positioning, packaging, and messaging so that you truly become a “Category of One” (courtesy @JoeCalloway)
  14. You are independent of “random acts of marketing.” You are free to laser focus on only high-probability prospects because you’re a student of the game and know exactly who to connect with, what they want, and where to find them. You “fish where the fish are” (courtesy @CoreyPerlman)
  15. You are independent of your partner or spouse’s lack of belief and support for your entrepreneurial journey. You are free to openly discuss what you’re doing, why it’s important to you, and how you’re going to recommit (now – right now!) to making this a real business and not a hobby by getting dead serious about your revenue generation.
  16. You are independent of the “feast or famine” revenue rollercoaster. You are free to build a high-fee speaking-driven business that generates a consistent flow of leads, clients, and cash and creates the lifestyle you envisioned when you first started your entrepreneurial adventure.
  17. You are independent of fear, uncertainty, and doubt. You are free to build your speaking-driven business as a decisive, committed action-taker who never spends a moment in hesitation (courtesy @RussRuffino) and who is 1,000% focused on daily action, traction, and results.
