A Hard Decision to make…DOP Announcment!

That evolution came as a result of some hard decision making & it was not made easily, after all I have worked on & invested in this for over the past 2 years. It has used up to much of me…Time & Resources. It was also poor effort on my part. I did not show-up for this community.

To all of you who have supported DEN OF PRIDE through it’s growth, I am grateful & truly apprieciative. I hope you have made some strides to personal growth as a result of your time spent with us.

RJ Horner; Host & Curator will be shutting down DEN OF PRIDE. We will close it’s doors as of May 22, 2019. This website has run it’s course & the asset will not be renewed. It has been a wonderful learning & teaching experience & I now move on to the next phase of my journey.

Never fear, I will return. I now turn my focus to my own personal brand, building on my skills for the benefit of those who have a desire for betterment. I would like for you to meet The Man I have become. I have learned & grown into a passionate teacher & a thoughful leader. I will continue to share my journey of growth.

RJ Horner becomes The Man he was always meant to be. It is time to live the LIFE I’ve always wanted to live. I am taking people with me! I am carrying those willing to come along for the ride.

Life is strange. When you are handed a gift horse, don’t look it in the mouth, hop on board & run with it. I have been given that gift. I know my next steps & it requires my intense focus.

Today begins what is to be the better part of the LIFE of RJ Horner. I am on a mission. I am taking people along with me. Build BetterMENt along with ME!

Let me introduce to…

mission evolution

Every Mission is not written in stone. Nor is every message. Times change, life goes on, ooh-blah-dee…ooh-blah-dah…

The mission, like anything else can evolve. Time does not stop & each minute is a moment in time. If we are to live each life to the fullest, then we are expected to go with the flow, living each moment. Because I have been living in the moment, listening to the guidance I receive, my mission has evolved.

I have learned & grown as a man. I have evolved, so must what I am expected to do as a man. Until I had the freedom to let go, I was trapped in the message. I have learned so much from the PD Gurus: John Maxwell, Tony Robbins, Jim Rohn, Zig Ziglar, Brian Tracy…etc.

Soon came a time when I should pass on that knowledge to those who could benefit from such powerful words but may not be getting access to the message. I was the message…carrying on where the masters are leaving us. Sad tidings, but someone must carry on their work.

Listening to the Universal calling, I was able to ascertain what the Universe had in mind for me…

If you listen, you will hear the calling, don’t people fool you into believing that only chosen people can communicate with the source. I listen now. My senses are open to all communications, for the messages they contain.

That open-mind led to the next phase of my leadershift evolution. I was to broad-minded to be of any use to this inundated marketplace. I had to niche-down. I had to focus on a smaller element to reach the greatest numbers.

Then I was given another directive. One that was meant as an offering if I was wise enough to take it. It was when I heard these words, “Life coaches are born at theses events.” ~ Chris Brady; Life Leadeship Founder & CEO.

I truly envisioned where I was going. I knew now what I was supposed to be doing, who I was supposed to be helping & how. I am prepared to teach life-balance to Men frustrated with life & living. But I have always wanted to help greater numbers & I am a perfectionist…if you are going to do any thing at all, it better be perfect.

One thing I learned early on was that for something to change, for me to change it required 3 things;

  1. Willingness to change
  2. Desire to become better
  3. Immediate Action

I have come to accept those terms as standard. That is how a mission evolves. It began somewhere with a purpose in mind. Now it is time to allow it to continue its transitional evolution to it’s newest phase that will allow me to grow & for me to aid the right people in their growth.

This is my flow…

My evolution as a Leader, Coach & Mentor is revealed. I introduce you to…

BetterMENt of MANkind!

Building Solid Foundations for Structures that withstand the force of MAN!

Introducing RJ to DOP!

I am RJ Horner, Host and curator in the Den of Pride.

I’m a Bus driver by profession, because that’s what you do right?  You get a get a good job, get good grades in school, work hard to earn a good living.

Bullshit!  I’d hardly call it living.

This is not living, at least not a living I want, much longer.  I am not in it the way I used to be.  It is a living that I am proud of though.  I work for a company that has a strong reputation and does a damn good job in a major metropolis.  It is a job someone could be proud of, I used to be, but that is just not satisfying me anymore.

I was once happy when I started this job.  I was happy to be working for such a prominent company.  After all, I had earned it.  I had worked my way up, putting in my share of the worst of the lot; working nights, working for $7, $10, $12, doing what it took to earn a living on whatever job I was qualified for.  I earned my right to be here.  I gained my B license, then became a driving instructor for B & E licenses.  I trained school bus drivers.  I was proud then.

When I first started my job I was proud, and happy to be there, finally I had achieved my place.  Because I was happy, I sent people off on their day with a smile & a kind word.  I truly cared for my passengers and it showed.

Life was great.  I had a great job, for great pay, with benefits, life insurance and a pension.  I had made it.  I WAS PROUD!  That was demonstrated in my attitude and my behaviour.

Soon though, something changed.

Life changed, and it hit me, hard.  Life got really-hard, really-fast.  It began to go quickly down hill.  Soon things would get well beyond my control.  If you stay with me, you will learn more about the strangling, stress-filled down turn that life took on.  I may never tell the whole story, it’s not exactly mine to tell, yet you will learn the struggles and the pain that I went through.  Things got tough, impossibly hard to deal with.

Life has a way of working itself out, but at the time I couldn’t see that, I couldn’t see it that way.  When you are blindsided, you are blinded by life, by all the terrible and viscous things that are circling your life right now.

These are your problems and they just won’t go away.  At the time, I was sad, depressed, and angry…very angry.

I was the one who had changed.  My personality had changed.

At the time I was a very angry man.

Angry with my life.

Angry with the world, for putting me there.

Angry at anyone and everyone…

…except myself, the one person who needed to bare the responsibility.

That anger would affect everyone and everything around me.  It would take over my life.  It would soon have life falling apart, people were pushing me away and I was in danger of losing the one person who chose to support me through all life’s battles.

Resulting from life’s failings, my job began to change.

I began struggling through my job, getting in trouble far too often.  It became a normal occurrence.  I was always being disciplined.  I began to feel disillusioned at work and no longer wanted to be there.  I still don’t, to this day I must say.

Finding myself dissatisfied and disillusioned, the job and the difficulties in my life began to change me.  I wanted more.  I was bored with my job and angry with my life.  Began to get angry with those around me.

This went on for a long time.  Frustrated & angry that I was not living up to my potential, yet not taking any action toward the betterment that I so desired.  Questioning, wondering, stammering through this period of turmoil, but not finding answers because the questions I asked were not worth answering.

For a long time, I had to struggle with the fact that if I hoped to grow then I would have to make the changes to become better myself.  I would need to work on me, because as my boss put it at the time, “If there seems to be a consistent problem, you might need to consider where the problem is.”

I was the problem!

When I began to understand that, I began to accept responsibility for myself…for who I was.  That was the changing factor in my life.

Asking the right questions, because I was now blaming the right person.

I am RJ Horner!

I know who I am!

I know where I am going!

I know what I am doing to get there!

New Dawn

Everyday is an opportunity for something new, to do things differently…a clean slate.

This holds true with the New Year as well. It is a chance to start over, do those little something’s that you always wanted to but just kept putting off: Go on a trip, Take the road less travelled, Join the gym, Lose some weight, Start a savings, Invest some money, Start a business or Get your business running right.

That is what 2019 means to me. I am going to get my venture operating at a highly profitable margin. I am going to gain the experience of profiting from business.

I must remind myself that it is ok to profit from the value you offer.

Who determines what value I offer?

You! The Marketplace. Buyers of products & services.

That suggests I must demonstrate my value to YOU!

I do have my services to offer & some products, even training yet to come. But for YOU to want to buy from me, YOU must know, like & trust me. You need to believe that I hold the value I claim to represent.

New Year gives me the opportunity to reboot once again. Not for the 1st time but I continue to do what I must until I get this right.

So I start at the Dawn of a New Year. Keep Moving Forward…2019 will be an Abundantly Amazing Year for RJ Horner & DEN OF PRIDE.

keep moving forward…until i get it right!

I had some comments recently from a reader that liked my work, they became a believer in what I do but somewhere along the line they say they lost that vibe, perhaps because they saw I was trying to turn this into a business.

To any & all who join the PRIDE! Make no mistake I am doing this for the betterment of man, & by extension for myself.  I am also trying to make this a Full-Time Venture.  I want to make this what I do, day in & day out, I want to help people before they get to where I was, mentally, physically & spiritually.

I would not wish that on anyone, to be so low that there is no one there to grab you & pull you out. I was one snap away from being the guy on the corner who bums change & trying to stay warm.  That is why I do what I do, & share the messages I do.  To keep people out of the gutter, to keep them from even getting near the precipice that I was.

Should anyone question the validity of my integrity, I must ensure that I am a man who believes in the value of each individual who creates this great Universe.  Together we are better than one, but we are better together if each of us is better.

So I Keep Moving Forward.  Doing what I must, striving to become better, daily.  I am man doing what he must, that is all we can do, what we must.  Step up & do what needs doing.  That is where I get my strength, from the fact that I survive, again & again.  I get through, sometimes unscathed.  Keep going!

I cannot say that I always get it as I get it wrong often enough.  But regardless of the outcome, I can do no less than keep going.  Knowing that persistence is a major key in growing better & stronger.

I am strong mentally, getting stronger spiritually, but now must turn my attentions o my physical being.  I am not as strong as I wish to be, with still much to grow.  If I aim to be a man who does what must be done then I must stand & deliver.  I must stand tall, stepping into the footprints that are waiting for me.

I have built this platform to serve those who seek a better life.  I seek betterment, for myself & for others wherever possible.  I am here to aid whoever finds the way to this path.  Seek to become better.  Seek to strive to be more, do more & become.

Keep Moving Forward, regardless of the mystery that lay before you.  Stand tall & walk the path that is laid before as you must.  you have little choice but to Keep Moving Forward trying to just get it right.

Our Platform: DEN OF PRIDE

Currently a blog and a FB group.

What started as just a medium to deliver a message has developed into something more. It became a community of discovery, a place for people to help each other achieve their dreams.

Whether they need to take their first steps of recovery, already on a path of personal development or they are deep into a journey of success. Den of Pride is a forum for like-minded individuals with an interest or desire for personal development.

Our Vision: Working together for a Better Tomorrow

As a society not only do we deserve to be as strong, powerful and vibrant as is humanly possible, it is almost our responsibility.

That begins with the individual. We are only as strong as the weakest link.  Our strengths must be carried forward helping others to become better and stronger; happier, healthier & wealthier.

Everyone deserves to possess the power of PRIDE that comes from a confidence in one’s abilities and the belief that nothing is impossible.

Working to help our fellow man (mankind) become the best they can possibly be improves our overall strength and position. Me, helping you, for you to help others is our goal in the Den of Pride…Better World, Better You, Better You.

Our Mission: Inspire Change; Encourage Growth; Deliver Value

It is not only our right but our responsibility to be all that we can be. People wonder why life treat them as it does. They wonder why they are stuck in this life, under stressful conditions. Life is what you make it. We believe in inspiring others to achieve their dreams. We offer a safe, comfortable place to learn and grow as individuals so that our society becomes stronger and more successful.

Our values:

DEN OF PRIDE promotes a healthy respect for individuals, their rights & responsibilities!

Responsibility                     Integrity                      Accountability                      Respect
Compassion                       Generosity                  Leadership                           Integrity
Strength                              Authenticity                Growth                                 Development

Den of Pride helps others to develop a strength of character. We start from the foundation & build a Confident Character.  Healthy values and traits create respectful individuals who exude those values in all areas of life. In this way, we create a happier, healthier and wealthier world.

DOP PURPOSE: To make the world happier, healthier & wealthier

We either don’t know it or won’t admit it, but many of us are unsatisfied with the life we lead. Life is what you make it, yet most don’t realize that, so we don’t make much of it.

Life can be anything you want it to be. It can be joyful and pleasant, it can be great, fantastic and amazing; or it can be sad, depressing, frustrating and downright horrible. That all depends on how you accept it into your life, and what you put into it.

“Take the first step in faith!  you don’t need to see the whole staircase, just the first step.”

~  Martin Luther King

DEN OF PRIDE is that first step.  Join a community that is built to unite you with the keys you need to succeed.

DEN OF PRIDE provides a safe, positive and encouraging environment for individual personal development where we can reach the masses on a larger scale. Working Together for a Better Tomorrow.  We can change the world by creating PRIDE in everyone.

Keep in mind:  You must remain humble.  Balance PRIDE with HUMILITY!

  • We are oppressed by unseen or unnecessary forces.
  • We allow outside influences to keep us from being shining beacons of light.
  • We, each of us has the power within to be a strong force capable of changing the world.
  • We are held in check by those we would call supporters (friends, family, authority figures).

All in the interest of helping you; Or just to keep you from being better…than they want to be.

“Oh, you can’t do that!”  “You can’t afford it!”  “Oh, that might be too much for YOU…”  & MORE!

The Message:  Stay where you are!  Don’t go anywhere, don’t try to do better.

The underlying message:  I’M Comfortable with YOU just the way YOU are.

DOP is committed to changing & improving the quality of our environment through helping each individual who desires to be better.  Changing the World One Individual at a time!

0:00 – Intro Music

0:26 – Affirmation:

“I will persist until I succeed. I was not delivered unto this world in defeat, nor does failure course in my veins. I am not a sheep waiting to be prodded by my shepherd. I am a lion and I refuse to talk, to walk, to sleep with the sheep. I will hear not those who weep and complain, for their disease is contagious. Let them join the sheep. The slaughterhouse of failure is not my destiny. I will persist until I succeed.”

  • Og Mandio, The Greatest Salesman in the World.

1:00 – Intro to Karen

  • Aerospace engineer and pilot
  • Successful corporate career, moving around the world while balancing family life.
  • New Book: It’s My Time
  • Helping women be successful at work in a way that lets them live life without regret.
  • Enjoys having a consulting and coaching business and wanted to uplift other women so that they didn’t feel as though they had to compromise their work life for their family or their family for their work life. Wants to show women that they can have both.

4:23 – Pride

  • Pride is not a sin if it’s in correlation with your value.
  • It can become a bad thing if you are using it to judge others or to act as though you are better than others.
  • Pride means confidence and that you are sure of what you are capable of, and what your gifts are.
  • Karen is most proud of her marriage and what it’s done for her family.

5:35 – The importance of family

  • We get caught up in this idea of work, and how important that is that we take for granted the relationships at home.
  • We get so consumed with proving ourselves at work that there are times when our loved ones get left out. Putting home life second becomes a habit, and this can make your family feel less important to you than your work.
  • Talking about how to create a balance with your family is important. Conversations are important to have with your family and your loved ones. This involves working together and listening to one another. Don’t just assume that everything is going to work out okay. Be prepared for difficulties.
  • Don’t just think about yourself in the situation, think about how your work life is going to affect your family and your relationships as well. This leads to successful relationships.

10:09 – How Karen has managed her career and home life

  • It’s not easy, but by putting things in place early on in marriage, Karen has been able to make things work. Having great conversations about what they wanted their futures to look like and their expectations in the marriage has helped a lot.
  • Pre-marriage counselling.
  • Discussing finances. It’s not my money, it’s our money. Not my decision, but our decision. Finances are one of the biggest things that break up marriages.
  • Stop and think about why you’re spending the money.
  • Issues about money, and why it becomes an issue is emotional value. For some people spending money is about security, for some it’s about status, and for others it’s about love, or showing people love. Some might buy gifts to show how much they care about someone if they don’t get to spend time with them.
  • How do you mesh both your former existences of yourself into one?
  • In more recent relationships, there is more distrust. Most couples will keep their finances separate. This can cause resentment and jealousy. If you’re in it for the long haul, you need to provide for both of you equally. Things need to be 50/50 with everything you do.
  • Money conversations can be emotional. People become too focused on how everything is affecting them, and not the other person.
  • Accepting that you need counselling is important. If there’s an issue, you need to get the help and resources that can help you to become a better person to resolve issues. You need to investigate yourself and your own behaviour.
  • Ask your partner for what you need out of the relationship.

25:28 – Trust

  • For women who have been divorced or who have dealt with failed relationships who are hard working, and very strong tend to have an issue surrounding trust, and they have a lack of trust towards men.
  • This security blanket of independence can become a stranglehold on yourself. You’re putting up a wall for anyone to recognize the gift that we are. You’re not letting anyone seeing how great we are because we’re so caught up in creating barriers. This can prevent you from finding the relationship and the love that is right for you.
  • You can be a strong, capable, confident woman while also being trustful, and letting people in to see who you really are as a person. You need to be able to let people in.
  • Being closed off puts off an aura that gives a message that you’re wounded and needy.
  • The most attractive person in a room, is the one that is willing to meet people and be open to interaction. This shows confidence and that you’re happy exactly as you are and that you don’t need anyone and aren’t looking for a specific person to fulfill them.
  • Join conversations and ask questions.
  • Everyone is always caught up in what people are thinking about them, and everyone has their own agenda in how something is going to benefit them. The person that doesn’t have that mindset or agenda, are the ones that people flock too because they are safer, and easier to talk to.
  • Don’t put on a mask of someone that you’re not. You need to build a genuine character.
  • Be “we” centric, not “me” centric. How can you help others?

33:30 – It’s My Time

  • Focused on figuring out what you want.
  • Being clear on what direction your heading. Not letting someone else’s opinion hold you back
  • Finding work/life balance.
  • Being clear on where you’re going, why you’re getting there and what is going to be the regret if you don’t get there.
  • You need to develop some decision-making platforms that will keep you on the path you won’t regret.
  • Learn to have boundaries and standards of how you interact with other people while maintaining your integrity and keeping you from giving over your power to another people’s opinion.
  • We look at others to validate internally how we feel. It’s all about perception.
  • Women are generally taught to please others and look for validation that way. Women tend to feel a lot more responsible for our circumstances and those around us more often than they care about themselves. They may feel as though they have to prove themselves to other people. Failure to recognize that saying “no” is a big qualifier for being a leader.
  • The only people that we need to please are God, ourselves, and the people that mean the most to us.
  • Don’t care too much about other people’s opinions. Don’t let them influence your decisions or your actions.

44:00 – Friendships, relationships and seeking help

  • Our choices show up what other people view as a failure in their own.
  • If someone isn’t allowing you to talk about what is going to help you, and they are just trying to push you into their space. Their trying to make themselves feel better about their own choices, because they decided not to put the work into fixing something.
  • You need friends and people in your life that are going to ask you hard questions that will help you realize your faults, make you a better person, and help you resolve your problems.
  • Your friends need to work with you to solve their problems.
  • Family and friends may not be the best people to help you solve problems. They may bot be as objective or pointed in the conversation as you need. You may need a coach, mentor or counsellor.
  • Life coaches are available to people on short term.
  • There is help if you’re looking for it. If you choose to just listen to people that are only going to tell you what you want to hear, you aren’t going to really get the help you need.
  • Don’t let your ego get in the way of being the first person in a relationship to accept that you need to change and ask for help. Allow yourself to be the first to apologize.

SHOW NOTES – Declan Edwards (EP. 14)

1:00 – Intro to Declan and Confidence Coaching.

  • Confidence Coach
  • BUCoaching: The ‘BU’ stands for “Be You” – the purpose it to show people how to be themselves. The key to confidence coaching.
  • People tend to hide who they truly are by hiding masks and pretending to be someone they’re not. It’s important to not hide you are, and this is vital for building confidence.

3:10- Confidence and “plorking”

  • As kids we had lots of confidence and weren’t afraid of being who we are.
  • We’re all born confidence and we lose that over time
  • It’s important to find a way to enjoy things that we do and find joy in our daily activities even if they are just mundane chores and things that aren’t always enjoyable.
  • Joyful enthusiasm is important
  • “Plorking – playing at work”: Brian Tracy. Infusing fun into the work that you do.
  • Jason Goldberg – “Playful Prosperity”

5:45 – Building Confidence in People

  • Recognize that confidence is a feeling and it comes from within. It isn’t tangible. Sometimes the tangible things that we want are all coming from internal feelings. The tangible things aren’t necessarily going to satisfy those feelings unless you recognize said feelings.
  • Emotional intelligence training can assist people in sorting out their feelings.
  • The outside world does not make us feel certain ways, it’s the way we react to it. Everyone reacts to things differently, and it’s up to you how you feel about something and the importance that you take away from it. Outside influences don’t have to control you.
  • Emotional intelligence is underrated. Everything comes from within first.

9:17 – Building confidence in children at school

  • Emotional intelligence isn’t taught at school. All we’re taught are skills and IQ.
  • We should teach kids the needs of life, how to manage life, how to communicate and how to enjoy life while at work.
  • Instead of always rushing right into work or school, it could be useful to take time to figure out what it is that we want to do with our life. Enjoy life for a bit at first.
  • All change starts with conversation, and questioning if there is a better way of doing things.
  • There’s always a different way, and there’s always potentially a better way.

12:02 – Declan’s Mission

  • Declan hopes to affect a trillion people in the industry with his business and with his message.
  • The greatest gift that we can give people is the ability to be themselves.
  • Saying that he hopes to affect a trillion people, Declan feels that this shows that he wants his platform and his message to be something that can be continued on through multiple generations. By empowering individuals, you create a ripple effect that can be spread on to more people over and over again.
  • Scale doesn’t matter. Your purpose doesn’t have to be grand or ambitious, but it has to be genuine and something that matters to you. You want to give back more than you take in your life.
  • The life is a mix between growing and giving. It’s important to have a balance of both. It’s important to add value to others in while also taking care of your own needs.

18:37 – The Start of BUCoaching, and the importance of finding a coach.

  • Life is always happening for us, not to us.
  • Declan believes there were moments in his life that set him up for what he’s doing now. There are moments in his life that put him on the path to his platform.
  • He was the first male in his family in five generations to not be military or police force. From birth he felt like he was being trained for the military. When he was around 17 years old he went to the military but was turned away because he’s asthmatic. At the time this was devastating for him.
  • He became depressed and would emotionally eat due to stress of no longer knowing what he would do with his life and became overweight. Once he realized he was not longer at a healthy weight, he wanted to change that, however he didn’t work on becoming more confident or changing how he felt about himself, and therefore started losing weight in an unhealthy way. He lost 80 pounds within one year and developed an eating disorder. He was so focused on his image, and not focused enough on his mental and emotional state, he was never happy with his progress. He became too hard on himself and the speed in which his weight loss progressed and kept pushed himself too hard in changing the way he looked. He could never find happiness within himself.
  • It was the love and respect that he had for his mother that pushed him to start getting better because he realized how deeply his condition was affecting his mother. The way he thinks and feels about himself affects not only himself, but the people around him.
  • He needed to be asked what he wanted to be in life.
  • People are always so eager to run away from pain that they never get to pleasure. People are so focused on what they don’t want, they don’t ever think about what they do want.
  • You need to figure out who you are, and what you want for yourself.
  • “Eat the shit that you sell.” If you don’t believe what you’re putting out is good enough for yourself, it’s not goo enough for anyone else.
  • Thriving is internal. It’s how you feel about your life, the external doesn’t matter.
  • Asking for help is important. Looking for a mentor is not a weakness, it’s smart.
  • “Help me” are two powerful words that can change your life.
  • Learning never stops. To be the best, you need a coach to be the best. You don’t have to do things on your own.
  • There are several different methods when it comes to helping people. Whether it be coaching, counselling, or psychology, these are all areas in which they are trying to help people. They can be used together as a combined process, since everyone is different and responds to different things. Fit the process to the person, don’t make the person fit the process. There is not such thing as one band aid solution.
  • “When we care as much about our results in life and happiness as we do about the results of our favourite basketball team, we will hire a coach”
  • John Maxwell “When you find your why, you find your way” – find your motivation, find your reasoning for doing what you do.
  • It’s easy to see all the things that are going wrong, without realizing all the things that are going right.
  • You can be directed towards change and growth, but it’s ultimately your own decision how you change, and the level of change you achieve.
  • One of the greatest crimes we can commit towards someone is saving them to see. Don’t jump in and save people right away, they need to sit in their struggles and find their own way out, so they can learn and grow on their own. Gives them their own sense of accomplishment and empowerment.
  • Every tragedy is an opportunity.

34:55 – The human brain and emotional survival

  • As human beings we are wired to move away from pain.
  • We become good at avoiding pain and what we don’t want.
  • Your brain’s job is survival not happiness. It will trade happiness for survival. It’s up to you to change yourself so you can find happiness.
  • Emotional surviving – just getting by. Just accepting that “this is just what life is” Don’t just settle for emotional surviving.
  • “Don’t just remove the weeds from the garden. You also have to also plant and water the flowers.”
  • Mission is not to just grow for us, but to learn and grown as a society.

39:39 – Pride

  • People get mistaken between pride and arrogance a lot. It’s a strength to be proud of yourself and not letting yourself get torn down.
  • It’s important to be proud of yourself, but you also need to be humble enough to ask for help.
  • Pride when practiced right is very beneficial not only to us, but also our loved ones. You need to help yourself before you can help others.
  • Pride is self-care.
  • Pride is about noticing what is going well, and what’s right, and what changes you’ve made that you can be proud of. Recognizing how far you’ve come, and what you’ve become.
  • Pride is an aura
  • Declan is most proud of his marriage and relationship with his wife. It’s something they’ve both had to each work on, and they’ve grown a lot as a couple. He’s also proud of the movement he’s created with BUCoaching. He feels it’s more than just as business venture, it’s now a movement that they’ve created.

  • Mental health can affect your physical health
  • Mental health can affect anyone at anytime. It’s a serious problem, and it’s something that needs to be addressed and taken seriously in our everyday lives in the same way that physical health is.
  • It’s common for people to become overwhelmed by worrying about things that could go wrong, not realizing all the things that could go well.
  • It’s okay to take mental health days and take time for yourself to relax and do things that you enjoy. We need to take time for ourselves.
  • With the way that technology is so readily available to us, we never really shut down and have time to ourselves.
  • Bell Let’s Talk Day is a step in the right direction, because mental health is something that we need to talk about and work through.
  • Your problems are real to you, and it’s important to take them seriously.
  • Pockets of Progress: focus on the small pockets in your life where you are succeeding and moving forward regardless of where you are in life.

  • “Power with, not power over”
  • You’re not there to tell people what to do, you’re just there to guide them to their own answers.

46: 19 – Change

  • Everybody is afraid of change
  • Change is inevitable.
  • The only thing that is predictable is unpredictability.
  • Don’t resist change, let things happen. It will catch up to you eventually anyways.

48: 45 – Quotes

  • “Embrace opportunity not security. A boat in the harbour may be safe, but eventually the bottom will rot out.”
  • “I would have been the best at whatever I want to do in life. If I were to be a garbage man, I would be the best garbage man ever.”
  • “You can’t live in a blueprint. A blueprint is a plan, if the house never gets built, then the blueprint is useless.”

SHOW NOTES – Luanne Hunt (EP 11)

0:00 – Intro Music

0:26 – Affirmation:

“I will persist until I succeed. I was not delivered unto this world in defeat, nor does failure course in my veins. I am not a sheep waiting to be prodded by my shepherd. I am a lion and I refuse to talk, to walk, to sleep with the sheep. I will hear not those who weep and complain, for their disease is contagious. Let them join the sheep. The slaughterhouse of failure is not my destiny. I will persist until I succeed.”

  • Og Mandio, The Greatest Salesman in the World.

1:01 – Intro to Luanne

  • Persistence is key.
  • Country singer
  • Hit singles include Christmas Without You, and Lightning in a Bottle
  • Pursue your dreams, and don’t let anything stop you. Age shouldn’t be a limitation.

2:02 – Pride

  • Pride is a great thing
  • In terms of music or art, there are a lot of people who will copy things or imitate other people, so everything begins to sound the same. But there is no pride in that.
  • You must have pride of ownership.
  • Pride means constantly striving for things that you would like to reach. Keep going and keep improving. Stay the course and don’t waiver.
  • Luanne is most proud of her persistence and the fact that she never given up and always kept going regardless of what other people say or do to deter you.
  • Don’t let other people’s insecurities about themselves stop you or make you feel discouraged.
  • Lack of success that most people have is a lack of persistence.
  • There are always opportunities to reach your goals.
  • Doing what you do because it is your purpose.

6:40 – Finding joy in what you do

  • It’s important to find something that you’re passionate about and that you can find joy in. Success becomes a bonus.
  • Many people don’t do what they enjoy because they are simply paying bills and trying to live life, and their dreams are put on hold, and they stop working on it. Later on, down the road, people my feel regretful because they gave up.
  • One’s beliefs about what is possible might dictate what people do. This keeps people in one place, and they don’t grow. You must believe in yourself and tell yourself that you can do it regardless of those beliefs.

8:40 – The start of Luanne’s career in singing.

  • Started singing country in the early 90s. Would have been in her 30s. Began singing for fun at county fairs and retirement homes.
  • Began to teach singing for parks and recs. Got a lot of experience and grew a lot as a singer through teaching.
  • “The best way to learn something is to teach it” – Stephen Covey
  • Luanne knew she wanted to sing as a kid, but parents and family members would ridicule her. She had to learn how to overcome that to achieve her singing career.
  • Seeing the support her students got from their parents helped her to overcome some of that abuse that she receives early on when she was a kid in regard to singing because it allowed her to heal. She could provide a platform for kids to explore their creativity and be supported in that.
  • The best way to heal is by giving back.
  • Singing was something that always brought Luanne joy, but she didn’t always feel as though she had the talent for it
  • When she was a teen, she went to a club and there was a band. She asked the band during the break if she could get up and sing with the band. She had a lack of experience, and the performance didn’t turn out too great for her, and people tried to pull her off that stage. This was an embarrassing moment for her, but when she looks back on it, she doesn’t feel as though that moment discouraged her at all or made her feel as though she should give up.  She took it in stride.
  • Realized if she was going to sing, she was going to have to do it well. That meant going to lessons and practicing and working very hard at it.
  • Worked a temp job that she hated. Didn’t feel as though she was doing anything useful and that the job was a waste of time for her. Decided she wasn’t going to spend anymore time doing a job that she found no value in. Encouraged her to sign up to be a singing instructor. Had a lot of success as an instructor.
  • You must decide, and then act.
  • People tend to put things off because they are afraid or nervous about what might happen if they do decide.

19:47 – Melancholy People

  • We know where we belong in life, and everyone knows what they want to be doing.
  • Success is doing what you want to do. Waking up everyday and feeling as though they are doing what they want to do is success.
  • If you are not attempting to pursue your dream, you are failing in life.
  • People become bitter because they don’t do what they want to in life, and they become jealous of those that do.
  • People don’t want to hear they aren’t living a good life. No matter how much you try to help them, they might begrudge you for it. This is a victim mentality.
  • When you come onto this planet you are a victim because you don’t get to choose the life that you are going to have. But once you are older and you have authority over your own life you can decide to change things and make things happen for yourself.
  • People need to understand their own responsibility in their life. Things are not always out of your control.

25:52 – Originality and being genuine.

  • There was a point where she knew that she wasn’t a great singer.
  • However, she always knew that she wanted to be a singer, and that was going to be her main goal.
  • The music business is a rough rode, and it can be hard to find your footing.
  • The internet is a double-edged sword.
  • There are newer artists today who try to recreate the works of other famous people, and they are just trying to make a copy of what they’ve heard. It’s not genuine, and there is no really heart or soul behind it. It’s important to develop something that is unique to you, and to your own personal message that you want to tell the world.
  • You recognize quality when you see it in writing and production of art.
  • Art comes from being genuine and unique to yourself and your life.
  • Music and art needs to be real.
  • It’s okay to learn from someone and take inspiration but copying someone is never going to make you successful.

38:49 – What does failure mean to you?

  • Doesn’t think of herself in terms of failure.
  • Failure could be just not quite hitting the mark on something that you are trying to do. Doesn’t mean that you won’t get there eventually, but you will get there eventually.
  • We may try something new at one point in time, and realize we aren’t as suited to that as we might have thought, and so we have to re evaluate what we’re doing at that time. This is all apart of growing.

39:52 – #share

  • In life to really be able to look back on your legacy, if you strive to be the very best you can be, when you look back you will be proud of yourself.
  • People thing that things should be handed to them, and that they don’t have to work for things, but it’s things don’t always come easily.
  • When you are given something that you didn’t work for, you won’t feel that same amount satisfaction and pride as you would if you had actually put the work in for it.
  • You need to have wealth consciousness, and the right mindset for success. You need to condition your mind, not just your external circumstances.

46:32 – What is the key to a long-lasting relationship?

  • Commitment to staying together no matter what, and making things work.
  • Each person in the relationship needs to work on themselves individually before they can make their relationship work.
  • Need to learn to forgive and forget
  • It’s important to evaluate the relationship and how you feel about one another, and then find a way to make it work.
  • If you stop being a victim and take responsibility and learn how to grow from mistakes you can find the way to make things work.
  • You have to learn your lessons in life.

51:42 – Final Thoughts

  • Quote for motivation: “Let your faith be bigger than your fear”
  • Have faith that you are going in the right direction and following your heart, and things will materialize for you.
  • Don’t let fear stop you.
  • Don’t give up because success could be right around the corner for you.

I am a lion and I refuse to talk, to walk, to sleep with the sheep. I will hear not those who weep and complain, for their disease is contagious. Let them join the sheep. The slaughterhouse of failure is not my destiny.”

1:00 – Intro to Reneau

  • Author, speaker and educator
  • Author of several books surrounding emotions and mental health
  • Most recent is Anger: Taming the beast
  • Favourite Quote: “in life pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional”

2:55 – What is anger. How do you deal with it?

  • Broad view of anger, you experience it everyday
  • Low level is irritation, high level is rage. Same emotion, it just depends on the level.
  • Anger is a normal human reaction.
  • Provides motivation and energy to settle conflicts and take care of yourself as long as it’s not being expressed inappropriately.
  • It’s important to minimize negative reactions, maximize positive reactions.
  • Anger is about threat. Response to being threatened. Anger or fear. If it’s unmanageable, it becomes fear. If it’s manageable one becomes angry to get rid of it.
  • We may see threats where there aren’t any.
  • Triggers from the past can cause anger. Things from your past can trigger threat.
  • When you’re sick, tired or stressed you don’t reason as well as when you’re calm. You don’t think as clearly, and you may become angry.
  • It’s easier to learn when to keep quiet and try to deal with it when you’re feeling better.
  • Emotions are just a message that there is a need. Negative emotions mean there was a loss, and positive emotions means something was fulfilled.
  • Emotions are just information.
  • Act on the emotion, don’t act it out. Respond, don’t react.
  • Recognize patterns, find resolve.

12:50 – Core Beliefs

  • Core beliefs that shape your interpretations of the world were developed by a little kid. For some people that never changes.
  • Never stop growing and maturing.
  • Really shape the actions about how we react to things.
  • What it means to be a man or a woman. What are relationships about? What is success? What is life after death? Shape the reactions we have to other people
  • We are distracted from our core beliefs by media and technology. It’s necessary to unplug sometimes and spend less time with electronics.
  • Beneficial to examine your core beliefs, and what they mean to you. Self-examine, and reflect.

15:20 – Anger: Taming the Beast – Human Behaviour and emotions

  • Can we control our anger?
  • What are some of the things that can cause anger?
  • What anger is appropriate? Is the level appropriate? Will it cause another person harm?
  • Recognize how we’re behaving towards something.
  • People will downplay their anger.
  • Anger can give people social power
  • Fear, and making people afraid of your anger can give you a certain level of control.
  • People will minimize the consequences of their behaviour. They may say “what’s the big deal?”
  • People will modify their behaviour around people of authority. People will consider the consequences.
  • As an adult, you can manage your emotions and control your behaviour. Keep in mind your actions, and your behaviour.
  • Challenge your should / must thinking.
  • When people feel vulnerable, they become defensive, and resort to something that makes them feel strong. Convert to anger for strength.
  • Fight or flight when faced with confrontation.
  • Learn to become okay with embarrassment and making mistakes.
  • If someone’s behaviour is irrational, it’s because their beliefs are irrational.
  • Ask yourself why you’re feeling threatened.
  • Many people will label certain emotions as “taboo” so they resort to anger to cover it up. Find a way to let go of this way of thinking

29:52 – Emotions and children.

  • Children model behaviour from the people in their lives.
  • Discover the child’s “theme” How can you encourage a child in that theme?
  • Build their confidence and communicate effectively with them about their strengths and weaknesses.
  • How can you give them structure to deal with these insecurities?
  • Build confidence.
  • Teachable vs unteachable moments.
  • Success comes with the quality of your relationship.
  • Encouragement and support is necessary.
  • Spend time with your kids and develop a relationship
  • Don’t be irrational.
  • Share your experiences
  • There will always be difficult moments with children

Show Notes – ROBERT CROWN (EP. 10)

1:00 – Intro to Robert Crown

  • Author of “Suffering Ends When Awakening Begins”
  • Has suffered a traumatizing past, in which he was faced with his own near death.
  • Has had to learn how to put behind him the dysfunctional behaviours passed down to him by his family.
  • His message is “it does get better”
  • Helps in his community and service organizations through charity, and through working with youth and seniors.
  • Served on the board of directors in his local chamber of commerce.
  • Love of travel has taken him to Japan six times
  • Has a wife and four children
  • Owns a residential real-estate brokerage

2:40 – Pride

  • Den of Pride is about confidence building, and that it’s okay to be proud of who you are
  • Is pride a sin?
  • Is pride a good or a bad thing?
  • Depends on where your ego is with your pride. If you are boisterous or a braggart, then it could be a bad thing.
  • What does pride mean to you?
  • It means being proud of your accomplishments and the things you’ve achieved.
  • What are you most proud of?
  • Being able to turn his life around and a live a life that he wants

4:03 – Robert’s childhood story and learning to awaken.

  • Comes from a dysfunctional family
  • 1973, Robert was 11 years old
  • Robert’s mother drugged him and his sisters by putting pills in ice cream
  • She then attempted to kill Robert and his sisters by filling the house with carbon monoxide from the family car
  • Robert started slipping out of consciousness, and felt he was going to die.
  • A voice comes to him and tells him to go to the door and try to escape. Robert believes this was his higher self speaking to him.
  • Through sheer determination to survive, he escapes, and makes it outside to safety.
  • He screams for help, and his mother finds him, and she snaps out of it. Robert’s sisters are rushed to the hospital.
  • Everyone was okay, but his mother spent three months in a hospital.
  • Never received any counselling, and he and his sisters didn’t speak about it until he began writing his book.
  • Didn’t forgive his mother for a long time afterwards. They now have a good relationship.
  • Things that happen in your childhood can be attributed to things that happen to you later in life. The trauma that this event caused might explain some of the personal and behavioural struggles that he experienced throughout his life.
  • Robert has realized after reading The Bhagavad Gita that humanity can awaken to their true purpose, and if they don’t, they fail. Humanity must awaken to who they truly are. The people who fight through their hardships and learn from them and can keep going, they can awaken to their true purpose. We need to keep going, and deal with our hardships ourselves.
  • Suffering isn’t here to make us go through things, it’s to get us to awaken to who we truly are and awaken to our true selves and our divinity.

20:29 – Listening to the Universe’s message

  • suffering in life that we go through is an opportunity
  • Everything comes from one origin. Some call it God, some call it ‘source’
  • Source is omniscience all knowing. Full of profound, deep love.
  • Source is omnipotent.
  • Parts of the source are broken off, and these broken off pieces are our human minds and consciousness. We are pieces of the source, and our human body is a container.
  • When you are moved from the ultimate source, veils of illusion get placed over us. False beliefs are placed over humanity. It’s important to remove these veils of delusion so we can awaken to who we truly are. Once we awaken to who we truly are, we discover this omniscience, and divinity within us.
  • The point of the awakening is to get in touch with who we really are.
  • The way you think can have a huge impact on things. Instead of thinking about what can go wrong, consider what can go right.
  • “The moment that you begin to think properly, a power within you will emerge. This I know for sure.” – Michael Beckwith

33:20 – Changing your thinking

  • Masaru Emoto, Messages from Water:  Studied and researched our thoughts and how they effected water crystals. Under messages that had words such as ‘ugly’ or ‘hate’, ugly water crystals would appear. Under messages that had words such as ‘beautiful’ or ‘love’, beautiful water crystals would appear.
  • Your thoughts can manifest your reality.
  • 5 step processes: 1. Make a firm decision on what you want to do, don’t let anything stop you no matter what 2. Create a clear image in your mind of what you want 3. Create an affirmation in your mind of what you are trying to achieve, allow yourself to feel how you want to be 4.  Think from the end, believe that you already have what you want 5.  Stop negative chatter, you’re so used to thinking a specific way, that’s your default. So, you must raise your vibration and your frequency.
  • Live a life with intention.
  • The way we think are all paradigms from when we were little kids. We make connections that might not be there because your brain is wired a certain way from when you’re a kid.
  • Creating a new reality can make one feel very exposed and vulnerable, but you must remember that your brain is working against you. You feel comfortable in a way that’s familiar, so your brain will try to make you stay in one place. But you develop the most when you are feeling uncomfortable.
  • Embrace your new reality and move forward.

46:06 – Parting Thoughts

  • No matter what challenges you face in your life, even if you feel like you can’t handle it, you will never receive more than you can handle.
  • You are a strong, powerful being
  • You are a multi dimensional being living in a third dimensional world, and you are more powerful than you will ever know.
  • “Throughout human history, there has been many battles. But there has been only one war. That is the war of the oppressing consciousness trying to suppress the consciousness that wants to be free.”  – Max Buyers
  • Don’t just think something, believe it.

Experience Independence

This was sent to me in an email campaign today & I felt you might benefit from this article.  As the US Celebrate Independence Day this week, they consider their fight for Separation from the British Rule.

This article offers advice on some things that you would benefit from implementing a separation or independence.  Please Read below this article from David Newman of Do It Marketing.

Speaker’s Declaration of Independence

To celebrate Independence Day here in the US, here are 17 articles of the “Speaker’s Declaration of Independence.”

  1. You are independent of “being chosen” and will proactively reach out to highly targeted prospects with a value-first message to ask how you can help them.
  2. You are independent of “small potatoes” thinking and doing and you are free to think big – and act bigger (courtesy @JeffreyHayzlett)
  3. Your fees are independent of any prospect’s budget. What they “can afford” has zero to do with what you deserve to earn based on the value you deliver.
  4. You are independent of being stuck, stymied, and confused. You are free to DECIDE and DEFINE exactly what problems you solve and exactly what people you serve.
  5. You are independent of “waiting for someday” for your speaking-driven business to become what you always wanted it to be. Your time is now and your opportunities are limited only by your imagination.
  6. You are independent of “one size fits all” business models. Keynoters are no better (or richer) than trainers, seminar leaders, coaches, consultants, facilitators, online course creators, etc. The business model that fits is the business model that pays (and lasts.)
  7. You are independent of “shiny object syndrome” and you are free to focus relentlessly on MMA (Money-Making Activity) to connect with the right prospects who want you to solve the right problems at the right fee.
  8. You are independent of tactic-itis because you know that random tactics lead to random results. You are free to put the right strategies in place that lead to coordinated tactics, action steps, and results.
  9. You are independent of being treated like a commodity. You are free to boldly claim your topic, niche, target market, and specialization as an expert who speaks professionally.
  10. You are independent of impostor syndrome. You are free to embrace the entirety of your expertise, experience, past jobs, past careers, skills, insights, and hard-won wisdom and bring 100% of those assets to bear on delivering massive value to your hand-selected group of extremely lucky high-paying clients.
  11. You are independent of “local-yokel” status. You are free to drop your Chamber membership, stop taking local gigs for peanuts, and stop playing small in your own backyard. National experts market and sell nationally, and are in high demand regardless of geography.
  12. You are independent of sales reluctance. You are free to open relationship-building conversations with highly targeted prospects who are actively seeking solutions to the urgent, pervasive, expensive problems you’re already brilliant at solving.
  13. You are independent of the competition. You are free to zig where they zag and you are free to shift your positioning, packaging, and messaging so that you truly become a “Category of One” (courtesy @JoeCalloway)
  14. You are independent of “random acts of marketing.” You are free to laser focus on only high-probability prospects because you’re a student of the game and know exactly who to connect with, what they want, and where to find them. You “fish where the fish are” (courtesy @CoreyPerlman)
  15. You are independent of your partner or spouse’s lack of belief and support for your entrepreneurial journey. You are free to openly discuss what you’re doing, why it’s important to you, and how you’re going to recommit (now – right now!) to making this a real business and not a hobby by getting dead serious about your revenue generation.
  16. You are independent of the “feast or famine” revenue rollercoaster. You are free to build a high-fee speaking-driven business that generates a consistent flow of leads, clients, and cash and creates the lifestyle you envisioned when you first started your entrepreneurial adventure.
  17. You are independent of fear, uncertainty, and doubt. You are free to build your speaking-driven business as a decisive, committed action-taker who never spends a moment in hesitation (courtesy @RussRuffino) and who is 1,000% focused on daily action, traction, and results.

Anger: Taming the Beast

Peurifoy’s work is embraced by many self-help groups and clinics addressing anxiety-related problems who have selected his books from among a host of others on the market as the basis for their programs.

Peurifoy has been a key feature speaker at 11 national conferences for The Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA), the nation’s primary organization for anxiety-related problems.  He is also a frequent media commentator, having appeared extensively on dozens of television and radio outlets.

The first edition of Anger: Taming the Beast, was published by Kodansha, a Japanese based publisher that was expanding into the self-help genre. In recent years they decided to pull out of that market, so he saw this as a perfect opportunity to update and re-release it as new second edition published by LifeSkills.

Reneau held a private practice for twenty years as a marriage and family therapist specializing in anxiety disorders. He retired from private practice in 2000 to teach at a local College in Sacramento, California. In 2015, he retired from teaching and received a ministerial credential from the Church of God headquartered in Anderson, Indiana. He is now spending his time writing, speaking, and seeing a limited number of people with anxiety-related problems as a pastoral counselor. He has also developed a YouTube channel (listed below) that features videos on practical life skills. In this way he hopes to share his insights and experience with a new generation.

Why did we create DEN OF PRIDE?

I find that too many people are lacking & wanting more.  They do not often realize the reason for their state.  They are not aware they have a problem or perhaps if they do, not what that problem is.  They blame outside, unseen forces for their circumstances, yet the first thing they must realize is; they are the problem or at least responsible for it.

I find the number 1 thing that prevents people from beingall that they want is a lack of confidence or a belief in their abilities.  DEN OF PRIDE was created to instill the believe that you are more, you are the only one who can be you, you are theo only one living your life.  You are 100% responsible for who you are.

DEN OF PRIDE 2.0; Coming Soon.

Only 1 month away: June 1, 2018

Our platform DEN OF PRIDE has been growing over the last year.  We have been working on how best to serve the community.  Our podcast started almost 1 year ago.  Quickly overwhelmed, the podcast did not survive.

Rather than quit, as was my normal practice.  “I failed, that’s it.  I quit!”  This time I ensured that this program would return.  I felt the value in this program & I spent a lot of time making it work.  What would work, how do I make it work, how do I best serve this community.

I found that engagement was the best practice.  By getting out there and being visible, you can increase your engagement to help those people who need it most.  By just being there and aiding people with what is needed most, you are reaching your audience.

I have spent considerable time engaging, while building up the community, our programs & features.

Let’s Talk: HELP ME!

On the tails of the Bell Let’s Talk Campaign, I have been newly inspired.

I am RJ Horner!  I know who I am! I know where I am going! I know what I am doing to get there!

That didn’t happen over night.  That came about after long years of recovery of a disease that I had little control of but I later learned is curable or at least manageable.

I want to help people realize that life is a journey & that they are totally capable of living a peaceful, happy, almost blissful life.  It is hard to believe when you are in the depths of despair, but life can & will get better, if you let it, maybe even help it along.  I am living proof that life will get better.  I am not the same angry man who started this journey 6 years ago.

This article represents the struggle that people have to go through in changing their behaviour & attitude.  It is a struggle to believe.  It is a struggle to even believe a different life is possible.

So…Let’s Talk:  Help!

Used together these are two of the most powerful words in the English language. If you find yourself in a position where you need to use them these words will get you what you need. These two words when uttered together will change your life. They will bring about change on such a grand scale that you could not measure its results. These simple two words will take away much of the pain you are experiencing. These two short words will bring the world to your door, carrying their tools willing to create a foundation to help you build up your dreams.
That’s why you would dare to say them out loud in the first place. You are in a place you would have never experienced before. You are in the worst place of your life, someplace that many can never imagine, and most would never wish to be. You are alone, failing and falling, there is no one you can turn to, or so it seems. This is the place and the time to ask for HELP, if ever there was one. YOU NEED HELP!

Look up, just for a moment. You will see the faces of those who will help you out of the depths in which you find yourself. You see, right now you have dug yourself into a ditch that is unrecoverable (alone). You cannot see any way out of this hole, but there is. Even if you have chased everyone in your life away there are people, maybe even near you right now, that will help you, if you are not too afraid or too obstinate to use those powerful words.
If you are anything like me, you have been told for a considerable amount of time, that you need help.
“You are angry.”; “You are chasing everyone away.”; “You are hurting those closest to you.”
These are but a few, such words may be making you feel horrible and worthless. These are the signs that life as you know it is coming to a head. Life is about to get a whole lot worse. This is what I call the ‘safety net’. This is what you hear and feel before you hit rock-bottom, a place that none of us wish to find ourselves. I was very fortunate enough to fall upon my ‘safety net’.
Have you ever fallen upon a safety net? Do you now the feeling of relief and absolute gratitude, that things are not as bad as they most certainly could have been. Imagine what would have happened if that safety net was not there.
I was relieved, thankful and grateful that I could now look up at what I had done, knowing that I could do something to correct it and find my way out of this place I had created. I knew that now, it was up to me to make amends for the distrust and disdain that I was responsible for. Did you hear that, “I was responsible!” You are responsible for every action that takes place in your life. Only You!
Only you can possibly seek the help you need, and yet often you don’t know what help you need, or why. Sometimes you don’t even know that you do need help. Other times, you know you need help and don’t believe you should ask for it. Worst of all you know you need help, you might even know the help you need, yet you don’t know who to ask or where to turn. I have been here before, so I know this dilemma intimately.
It is very fortunate that at the time here in Canada, when we annually acknowledge mental health awareness, I am reading a book that teaches you that you are not your mind; The Power of NOW, by Eckhart Tolle. The knowledge found in it’s pages has been a long time coming and I could have used it years ago. The fact remains though, that I would not have been receptive to the information because my mind was still in control. It does not have control today, and I will demonstrate why that is. It has been 5 years since I did the one thing that I was previously unable to do. I took a stand and said the two words that are so difficult to leave the lips of a human being. Words that someone dealing with mental health issues might not have been able to utter.
We have an even bigger challenge to our salvation at a time when we need it most. If we are in an ailing state of mind, one where we are forced to prostrate ourselves enough that we may dare to utter these words, nothing should stand in our way. We are in a delicate place because the longer we hesitate, the worse our circumstances become. We have little time to spare, so if we do find those that are willing to help us there is no time to waste.
There should be no debate that this is what we need, and this is the time and place to turn and ask for help. Knowing that, it is just a jump forward because like I said, this is the move that can change your life. Now is the time to act. So, if we have other challenges at this point then we have little hope of survival.
We know what we need in our lives right now. We might even know where to turn, there are people standing by to assist, ready to help us rebuild our lives from the ground up, a helping hand, out of the hole we have dug ourselves into. This is the time for action. Here! Now! Today!
What could possibly hold me up now?
Once you arrive at this point, the point of knowing what you need, and what you need is available to you, then you are the only obstacle standing in your way.
But you want help right, you have decided that, haven’t you?
You have decided that, but your ego has not!
Believe it our not your ego is separate from you. Your mind is not you, it is a tool to be used by you. Yet we know it is powerful beyond measure. How can we compete with that? It is your mind that is telling you that what you need to do is to stay the same. “Do not change me! I am perfect exactly as I am. Why do you want to change perfection?” If this powerful force is telling you that you should stay just where you are, doing just what you are doing, living this same dreadful life that is causing you so much pain, because you are perfect, how do you change that? How can you fight your mind?
Whether you realize it or not, you are not your mind. You can separate yourself from this tool that was only intended for you to be a strong force in your own right. You were meant to be a force to be reckoned with, by utilizing this mind as a CPU, not as the controlling factor. It should not be allowed to control you, but it should be possible for you to use the mind to achieve all your dreams, desires…and demands.
You control the mind, not the other way around. This is a fact, but most of us cannot see it. It is an illusion to our being. It remains hidden from us because our ego takes control at a very early age. It tells you what it wants, what it wants you to be, it wants you to do. It tells you what to do and how to behave. It controls your being. It does so because you allow it.
You allow your mind to take control of your being. You are a human being. That being controls everything. One of the first things I was told by my counsellor when I made the decision to ask for help was, “You need to take back the control.” At the time I did not have a deep enough understanding of what she was saying to me, except that I needed to control my behaviour. I did not know at that time that the ego was in control, as I do now.
Your ego really keeps you in the way of your optimum health & wellness. Your ego is your enemy in this and your ego is a part of you, but it is not you, you can control it. You must learn to control it if you are going to achieve this state of health. You must take control at least one area if you are going to make the powerful statement that is the basis of your recovery.
I am not sure how hard this is for women, but I do know that both men and women struggle with being able to ask for help. Male ego entrenches itself on a very deep level. It is what we refer to as the male bravado, or being macho. We believe that we are superior beings (to absolutely everyone else and every being) on the planet. We are supposed to own our being. But by being, there is no charge, there is just doing, living it as it is, in the moment.
This is what we forget from an early age as the ego takes control. We no longer have control of who we are. That control is taken over by the inner psyche that wants everything to just stay the same. Let just for a moment give you a basic secret of life, it cannot and does not stay the same. Because every atom is constantly in vibration, they are constantly revolving & evolving. Knowing that, could you not find that information useful, thus find it within your power to take control.
You must learn to go with the flow. Take life as it comes without interference from you. That is a hard concept to accept. It is a hard place to achieve for someone who is so bull-headed. I will tell you with absolute certainty that I was stubborn. Quite likely you are too. I was unwilling to accept many facts because I had my own internal beliefs. Those beliefs were not necessarily real, but my mind (ego) believed they were, or rather they told me they were. The ego was in control.
So, you need to be able on some level to start telling your ego what to do and what is real for you. This is the only way you will stand any hope of gaining control of your being. You must humble yourself, before others, but most of all it is your being that you must be humble for. You must drop your guard and forget these stubborn inferences that the ego is telling you. Shout out loud if you must (yes, this helps) the words, “I will not live this way anymore. I am in charge.”
Then and only then can you utter those vital words that are so dreaded to you now. Those words are so hateful to you because they are hateful to your ego. But if you do even one thing, it is to realize that your ego is not you, it is separate from you, then you can realize that you can take control slowly and consistently over time. Taking control of that ego by telling it, “You are not going to control me anymore.” Just so you can utter those words that you so desperately need to say.
This starts with just one step, if you take it, one day you will be whole again. You will be open enough to receive knowledge that today you would consider to be ridiculous or outrageous. The knowledge I have acquired since uttering those powerful, yet humbling words just 5 years ago cannot even compare to the things I have learned in my 40 years prior to taking this vital step.
I am RJ Horner! I know who I am! I know where I am going! I know what I am doing to get there!
I know me. I have found me. That is what I want for every other human being of this Universe. Whether you are unhappy, angry or not, most of us are unsatisfied with something in their lives. It is my mission & purpose to help as many as I can to find satisfaction, by living the life of their dreams
I do this by helping others find their PURPOSE, so they can embrace their PASSION, that they might harness their POWER, so they can develop their PRIDE.
RJ Horner

“I am good enough!” NLP Techniques changed my life forever!

My growth is never-ending.  I will continue to grow and learn, not stopping as long as I shall be able.  Life doesn’t stop so why should I?

I continue to absorb knowledge at an amazing rate, almost like a sponge.  I try to focus what I learn but I take knowledge as it comes.  I read whenever possible.  I listen to audiobooks and podcasts for the valuable information they provide.  I take courses and attend webinars and seminars.

This latest seminar I have attended; DESIGNING YOUR DESTINY was vital for my growth.  Prior to this seminar I had vowed that I would, “Turn my hand over to the Universe.”  I had no idea at the time that I would sign-up for their advanced training program, because I never do stuff like that.  I always pass, not taking action on such a waste of money.  My word, or resolution for 2017 was “Action”.  Well, I took action.

I say this course is advanced because this is the training that those influencers you follow most closely, whom you trust in their advice and guidance, would have received.  This is the training taken by such personalities as Tony Robbins, Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Phil, just to name a few.

If you want to know how to help yourself and others through the challenges we all face then this is the training that will offer the most value.    I am preparing myself for this exciting program.

Curious as to what this training is?  I know I was!  Now I know what I am in for.  From this training I will have the influence and the skills to help people achieve their dreams by removing the blockages that keep them from achieving success.  I can attest to the removal of blockage.  In one session with a guided exercise from a master trainer, I was able to remove my biggest blockage.

Prior to this exercise, I always felt that I was not capable and that I was not good enough…for anything.  I always felt that I was a failure and couldn’t do anything right.  In this one treatment, we did a group exercise to remove the one main blockage we have, they call it the “UN”  Mine was of course that I was unworthy; not good enough.

In this exercise you perform a ritual that helps you dissolve that blockage and install a new (opposite) programming that is more supportive.  As I mentioned, my “UN” was; “not good enough”.  After perform this technique I could instantly feel that something was different.

Now I truly believe in my deepest core that I felt different.  Now I do not even allow that thought to enter my psyche.  “I am good enough!”  This is my new supportive belief and I do not waver from it.  I know this to be true and knowing this there is nothing to stop me.  I am slowly getting out of my own way.

So, now are you curious?

This elite training is called; NLP – Neuro Linguistic Programming.

  • You learn about the mind and the internal working of the mind so that you can affect outcomes in the conscious mind by accessing what lies beneath in the unconscious mind.  Not only do you affect your own personal outcomes because you can self-perform these techniques, but you can utilize them with others to help them remove the blockages as well.

I am excited to announce that I am taking this training, I still must pay for it “In-Full” before I can take the class but I was given all of the program resources and have already begun my studies.

I had already decided that my career as a Writer, Speaker, Educator and Entrepreneur would require me to become a certified coach.  At the end of this coach I will be empowered to help others, not just in spirit, but as a fully certified with a designation as an NLP Practitioner.

I have visualized myself having this course “Paid-In-Full” by September 2018, allowing me to attend the week-long training session at that time.  I have visualized it.  I have turned my hand over to the Universe.  The Universe will provide.

I can do this!  I am good enough!

Upcoming Book: Attending Publishers Conference.

Remaining focused on my purpose, which is to help people remove the sruggle from their llfe and find their purpose, passion and power, I have now taken a new step forward

This weekend I am at a conference, meeting with publishers to discuss the arrangements for my first book to be published later this year with any luck, a whole lot of focus, direction and purpose.

It is a book about empowerment.  I will reveal the title to you shortly, as I firm up the details

The book is about my personal development journey and my desire to help others who find themselves where I once was.  “I once was lost, but now I’m found, was blind but now I see.”  When you take this journey of self-discovery, you cannot help but want to give back, or pay it forward, as the case may be.  I am better now and I want to help others to become better

That is the premise of the book in a nutshell; I do not want to give up the juicy details until I arrange the layout, and set up the first draft.  Once I have something more to offer, you will know more.

For now, just know that this is happening.  This is REAL.

I am the author of the upcoming book on empowerment.  I am meeting with a publisher this weekend; at a conference discussing the details.  #publishabook; @gerryrobert

As these conferences go, I cannot share the details or the goings-on at this event.

One thing I have been encouraged to share however, is this; captainancrewmovement.com

When we (captain) tell oursleves that something is impossible, life (crew) makes sure it impossible.  Make every effort to change your mindset and make life possible.  Stop telling yourself that things are impossible or that life sucks or you just can’t do this or can’t afford that.  Whatever you believe, life will “make it so #1.

Failure Equals Opportunity

The very first thing I want to tell you is that you have not been abandoned.  It is still my ultimate desire to help others find that confidence and power deep within themselves.  Each of us has the power within themselves to become a powerful force whether that be used for good or evil.

Our tagline remains the same;

Discover Your Purpose, Embrace Your Passion, Harness Your Power, Feel Your Pride!

In the DEN OF PRIDE we will always try to help you find what is right and good and help you discover those little things that everyone possess that make us beam with PRIDE.  I have taken that upon myself as my mission.

In the DEN OF PRIDE we aim to help others remove the struggle from their lives and find their true purpose through positive reinforcement and empowerment.  DEN OF PRIDE is a blog, Podcast and Community forum for support and positivity.

You might have noticed that the DEN OF PRIDE Podcast has not been published in many weeks.  We have taken a hiatus to get on the right track.  I continue to interview people on subjects of importance to those looking to find a better way that leads to their true path.  We are not gone forever, we are just temporarily away, recuperating and getting better.

I have failed, both you and myself in not honoring my commitment in posting valuable content for the betterment of others.  Now I could give up because I am a failure, as I would have in the past.  But if there is one thing I havve learned from my lesson, all these many years, it is that failure is just an opportunity.  It is an opportuinty to learn from my mistakes and become better.

I have been given a grand opportunity in that I have become aware of some of my failings:

  1.  I rushed into this by giving myself a commitment date that was not realistic.  It was barely over 2 months from the date I decided to launch DEN OF PRIDE as a podcast, unitl the date it hit the air.  I was not ready!
  2. I did not have enough content to offer my valued listeners and came up short and found myself wanting for interviews and recorded shows.
  3. I did not have the confidence that I was trying to demonstrate that all of us should possess.
  4. I was not prepared to offer you valued content myself.  I intended to offer up tales and wisdom of all of the valuable knowledge I have amassed through the recent years of my personal development journey, which by the way is never-ending.

Am I am fraud?  No!  I am a work in progress, as are we all.  I will keep working to become better as I encourage my listeners to always strive to become more.

“Don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better.”  ˜ Jim Rohn

I have failed, but I ahve gained invaluable insight into the workings of this business called personal development.   DEN OF PRIDE will be back (When? To Be Determined) and it will be stronger than ever.

Failure equals opportunity!

We are (NOT) LIVE!

I am still Proud!

This original article below was posted June 1, 2017.  It was posted when I launched our first episode of the DEN OF PRIDE PODCAST.  I have since recalled this LAUNCH.  I was not prepared and I rushed into it.  I was not seeing things clearly with all of the work involved in running a podcast.

My only thought at the time was to “Just Do It!”, as Nike suggests.  I wanted to commit myself to this project and take action.  This was new for me and I wanted to ensure I was committed, and I was.  I LAUNCHED DEN OF PRIDE PODCAST on June 1, 2017 as per my commitment.

However I was not ready and I apologize for appearing unprofessional.  I do want to be taken seriously, and I PROMISE a return of the DEN OF PRIDE PODCAST in the new year.

We are now committed to gaining experience and proper preparation before attempting a re-launch of the Podcast.  We are actively seeking new guests who have influence and authority in the field of personal development.

On the show DEN OF PRIDE PODCAST, we will discuss:

  • Discover your Purpose;
  • Embrace your Passion;
  • Harness your Power;
  • Express your Pride

How does your field or expertise apply to these subjects?  Are you interested in being a guest on our show?

Contact us at: rjhorner@denofpride.com

DEN OF PRIDE community forum is still up and running and I invite you to share your PRIDE here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1751162245146222/?ref=bookmarks

(Please note:  Article published June 1, 2017 has been retracted.)

I feel the PRIDE with the culmination of all I have worked for…in the DEN OF PRIDE!

Long awaited.  Highly anticipated…if only by me!  Den of Pride is officially a podcast.  We are a community dedicated to self improvement and personal development.

We offer ONLY positive encouragement and motivation for our fellow PRIDE members.

We exist to empower others to want more, be more, do more and become more.

Often people are oppressed, puched or kept down by those they love the most, who are acting in, “Your best interest”.  When in fact, as most people do, they are acting in their own best interest, because they don’t want you to get bigger then them, to be better then them.

In the Den of Pride we are equal and we encourage you and everyone around you to become more.  We hope to offer ways to help you manage that in others.  We want you to take your life into your own hands.

One of the first things I discovered on my journey of recovery was to take back the control over my own life, and by owning that and getting me back I was able to show others how to treat me.  I can show you to show others how to treat you.

There is much to learn and a long way to go.  It has taken me 5 years to get where I am.  Don’t expect instant results but if you do little things every day to become better than you were yesterday, you will become better than you are.  That is the main goal in life.  To become better today than you were yesterday and to be better tomorrow than you were today.

I am going to show you how to be confident in yourself…again, or for the first time if you might not have had that confidence to begin with.  Some never know just who they are and what they can do because they never reach just a little further.  You never know what you can do until you try.  TRY! TRY! TRY AGAIN!

My first couple of interviews in the Den of Pride Podcast stress that point.

Join us in the Den Of Pride!
